Various XYZ, Stylized as VARIOUS XYZ, is centered around taking odd frames of commercials, typically from the 1980s and 90s, out of context. It heavily features VHS distortion as a result of the methods used to obtain it. It has themes of nostalgia and surreality as well as occasionally corporation and childhood fear.
History
Various XYZ's central ideas themselves far predates the name, being a semi-popular motif in general VHS aesthetics. The name came from the now defunct 'Pre-sync' discord server, deriving from the naming template for rips of tapes that contained multiple ads on the Flemishdog VHS Collection. The first image to ever be referred to as Various XYZ is now known as "Hoover" and functions as the aesthetic's mascot.
