General rules

  • Do not make personal attacks on other people. If you need to criticize another user’s argument, do so without attacking them as a person. Do not use bigoted language, including slurs which degrade another person or group of people based on gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.
  • Contribute to the wiki in line with the established processes and conventions. Need help? Ask an administrator or fellow community member!
  • Do not plagiarize. This includes text from uncited sources, including "re-wording" text from original writing. AI text is also not allowed. Quotes with proper citations are welcome.
  • Disrupting the wiki with “edit warring” over differing opinions of a topic with another user or group of users is not productive.
  • Do not engage in excessive self-promotion. The wiki is a collaborative community resource for the topic at hand. It is NOT a free place to advertise your related website, YouTube channel, blog, social media account, etc. Have a question about whether your link would be welcome? Ask an administrator!
  • Do not harass other users. If somebody asks you to stop posting certain content on their wall or user talk page, respect their wishes. It is their space.
  • Do not hound, bait, or troll: Friendly debate and conversation can be useful tools in creating a resourceful wiki, but deliberately pushing others to the point of breaching civility is not allowed.
  • Do not threaten harm or spam/vandalism to other users and wikis. If you see anyone threatening another person or wiki, report to the administrator.

Blocking rules

Users may be blocked on this wiki for the following reasons:

  • Recurring vandalism or spamming
  • Deliberately misgendering (i.e. using the wrong pronouns) and otherwise disrespecting people's stated facts about their person and identity.
  • Recurring harassment, including hounding, personal or legal threats, posting of personal information, repeated messaging and ignoring their request to be left alone
  • Continual edit warring
  • Making a personal attack on another user
  • Sockpuppetry
  • Asking other users personal information such as age, location, etc.

Blocks will begin at 24 hours and will increase depending on the number of offenses and type of offense. Here is an explanation of ban lengths:

  • All vandals who post clear, deliberately inflammatory text, such as doxxes, memes, gore, etc. will be banned indefinitely. This is because the vandalism was done for a malicious reason.
  • Vandals who have "good intentions," such as deleting information on an aesthetic to erase its "problematic" aspects, will be given a one-week ban. If the vandal comes back to vandalize again, they will be banned indefinitely. All discourse surrounding an aesthetic's accuracy of information must be discussed in the Discord server or done through the message wall of an active mod.

Page protection rules

The majority of pages on this wiki will remain unprotected to encourage all users to edit. Pages will only be protected if there is a specific need, such as:

  • Vandalism has persisted over a long period of time
  • Stopping an edit war
  • Protect the proper display of the wiki (i.e. wiki logo, frequently used templates, the main page, policy pages, etc.)

Unacceptable reasons for protecting reasons can include:

  • Disagreeing with an administrator or moderator; this is conflict of interest.
  • Reserving the page to be edited later.
  • Marking a page as done -- wiki pages are never done, as language can always be improved upon.

To request an article be protected or to have the protection level be reviewed, please contact an administrator or content moderator on their wall.

Discussion chat rules

  • If you are having drama with someone, please address it privately somewhere else and do not harass the individual
  • Do not advertise, this wiki is not for advertising and it will result in your post being deleted.
  • Use the Discussion categories as they’re meant to be used (General discussion goes in general, if you want to know what an aesthetic is/if it exists, use the “What’s this aesthetic” category)

Upload rules

  • Do not upload any files that violate Fandom's Terms of Use. This means every uploaded file used on the Aesthetics Wiki must fall under fair use, under United States copyright law. Please refrain from using image content taken from the public accounts of individuals, such as their selfies or art, without permission. Add the corresponding licensing rights during the upload when necessary.

After adding a photo to an article, if you know the original poster, add the credit in the captions feature. (YouTube videos have the caption embedded, so no need to add captions for videos.) For example, see the right.
  • All images uploaded must be of decent quality. Images that are too small or pixelated should not be uploaded unless it belongs to the visuals of an aesthetic.
  • AI art in any shape or form is not permitted. Most AI art programs utilize content used without permission of the original artist and are therefore unethical.
