Rocker Grrl Diva is an aesthetic that involves brands that soften the bold look to appeal to teenagers and pre-teens; this aesthetic was considered a revival of the consumerist aesthetic of the 1970s.

History[]

It originated in the 1990s as a revival of the consumerist aesthetic of the 1970s, at a time when the "daring" look was very popular. Children's product companies created a younger, more feminine version of this look as a marketing strategy.

Visuals[]

The visual elements of the aesthetic are:

  • Animal prints and dark colors (ex. red, turquoise, gray, etc.)
  • Phrases like "Rock star," "Rock'n roll," or "you're so cool"
  • Skulls, guitars, and graphic designs
