Music[]
Reggaeton[]
Reggaeton or Reguetón is an electronic musical genre originating in Puerto Rico and Panama, derivated from Reggae music and the Rasta movement. It's heavily influenced by Caribbean music, especially Dancehall, Bounce music and Hip-Hop. Although it was pioneered in the early 1990s, it wasn't until the mid-2000s when it became widespread, spawning the Reggaetonero subculture as well. Reggaeton music is notable for using a lot of autotune, rapping, catchy and repetitive instrumental bases and erotic lyrics.
Dembow[]
Dembow is a characteristic rhythm in reggaeton music. It is a drum pattern consisting of distinctive, repetitive drum beats that provide the rhythmic basis for many reggaeton songs. The dembow is fundamental to the sound of reggaeton and is an essential component of its musical culture. The most used and famous drum pattern used in both Dembow and Reggaeton music is Pounder by Dennis the Mennace Thompson (1990).

Criticism[]
Reggaeton music is often criticized for its sexually sadistic and misogynistic lyrics. The worst (or most immoral) era of Reggaeton music is considered to be 2018 and 2019, when many Reggaton artists went too far with their sexist & sexual lyrics. Because of this, many people believe Reggaeton glorifies sexual harassment and catcalling. Other than that, some people don't like Reggaeton because some believe it's too repetitive and unoriginal.
