Kuro Kawaii is an aesthetic centered around themeing dark outfits or a room to a specific character. It was mainly created along with Shiro Kawaii in order to give People of Color (POC) a safe space to express themselves and their interest in anime and/or Kawaii Fashion. This term also includes POC cosplayers. It's main inspiration is Kuromi from the company Sanrio Co., Ltd.(株式会社サンリオ). It's opposite aesthetic, Shiro Kawaii, follows the same ideals. The ideals that you must follow in order to use the style are that you must be for the following movements: BLM, ACAB and Feminism. You must also be PRO-LGBTQA+. NON-POC are also welcome to use the style, however they must uplift POC creators if they're going to do so.

Fashion and Makeup.

THE STYLE OF CLOTHING IS BASED ON COMBINING PUNK/GOTH/SCENE WITH KAWAII FASHION. You cannot seperate the two. The type of makeup you can wear can vary from very light to extreme.

Light makeup refers to more nude looks with minimal color/black makeup like eyeliner, eyeshadow, or eyebrow color.

Extreme makeup refers to the creative use of makeup, even if not for it's intended purpose. You can go from looking like a rainbow puked on your face, to having a core color as your main look (Ex. Red-core look, Blue-core look, Yellow-core look, as long as it is any color and you're wearing a black outfit with an accent color, you're free to do your makeup as you wish, even to save the color for the accents you're wearing and to have a face full of black makeup.)

Rooms

Kuro Kawaii rooms are rooms in which the walls, or most of your things are black with some accent colors existing in between. You can also have anime figures/Merch work as "Accents" for Kuro Kawaii, for it's more mainstream look, please look at Shiro Kawaii, otherwise known as Light Kawaii. Kuro Kawaii is it's more "Professional" or "Edgy-er" opposite. You're free to decorate your room with pentagrams/occult related things as well, as long as you have some form of Anime related merchandise in your possession.
