New Age

New Age is an aesthetic intended to create artistic inspiration, relaxation, and optimism. It is used by listeners for yoga, massage, meditation, reading as a method of stress management to bring about a state of ecstasy rather than trance, or to create a peaceful atmosphere in their home or other environments, and is associated with environmentalism and New Age spirituality. A lot of New Age aesthetics come into play for Vaporwave, but the New Age aesthetic plays it straight while Vaporwave is more ironic with its usage of the imagery.

One of the key values is peacefulness, but this is not the same as harmlessness.

it is advisable to understand the culture and history before making it a part of your identity. For example: Celts did not have dreadlocks, but fae locks or pixie locks. Voodoo is a closed practice and so is anything to do with Native America, including white sage. Dreamcatchers also have significant history to native America, but Celtic druids did make triangle-shaped dreamcatchers.

Chakras are the various focal points in the subtle body used in a variety of ancient meditation practices, collectively denominated as Tantra, or the esoteric or inner traditions of Hinduism. It focuses on meditation and concentration on the mind, body, and soul. While the Chakra belief is based in Hinduism, there are equivalents in esoteric Buddhism as well.

Chakra system, but for the sake of simplicity, we're gonna focus on the 7 Chakra system since that's primarily what most people think of when it comes to the Chakra aesthetic. If there is enough interest, we might get into the other chakra systems as well, but it's not necessary to help create the foundation for Chakrawave. But all adhere to the same principle that as you unlock one chakra for your kundalini (literally, energy serpent), another one opens up until you reach the very top of the chakra system.

Muladhara: The red chakra. It is often referred to as the "root chakra" and is believed to exist at the base of the spine. This is considered to be the "foundation of the energy body", from which the other chakras are opened afterward. It is associated with survival instincts and the excretion of bodily wastes (hence its connection to the anus). Its corresponding element is "earth" and its corresponding sense is smell.
Svadhisthana: The orange chakra. It is referred to as the "sacral chakra" and is believed to exist and the base of one's genitals. Associated with this chakra are pleasure, sense of self, sensuality, passion, procreation, and the ability to have relationships (even non-sexual ones). Its corresponding element is "water" and its corresponding sense is taste.
Manipura: The yellow chakra. It is often referred to as the "Solar Plexus chakra" due to its location at one's solar plexus and is believed to govern the digestive and endocrine systems. Associated with this chakra are energy, willpower, digestion, metabolism, transformation, and achievement. Its corresponding element is "fire" and its corresponding sense is sight.
Anahata: The green chakra. It is often referred to as the "Heart chakra" due to its location at one's heart and is believed to govern decision-making, love, charity, psychic healing, and compassion. Its corresponding element is "sound" and its corresponding sense is touch.
Vishuddha: The blue chakra. It is often referred to as the "Throat chakra" due to its location in the throat and is believed to govern creativity, self-expression, and learning potential. Its corresponding element is "aether" and its corresponding sense is hearing.
Ajna: The indigo chakra. It is often referred to as the "Third Eye chakra" due to its location in the middle of one's forehead (almost like a third eye) and is believed to be linked to the pineal gland and governs the brain. Associated with this chakra are intuition, intellect, the subconscious mind, the ability to receive messages from the past, or the future, and the ability to communicate to the world. It has no corresponding element and its corresponding sense is sleep.
Sahasrara: The violet chakra. It is often referred to as the "Crown chakra", but does not have a location in the physical body, instead of residing over the person and is believed to be associated with pure consciousness. Once this chakra has been unlocked, it is believed that a person has finally attained nirvana.

The Zodiac relates to the star signs of the same name. There are many times of Zodiac systems dating back to many ancient cultures, but the 2 most popular ones are the Western Zodiac (determined by the time of year you were born in), followed by the Chinese Zodiac (determined by the actual year you were born in), like one could be a Virgo born year of the Rat, a Scorpio born year of the Dragon, a "Double Ox" (Taurus born year of the Ox), or a "Double Cat" (a Leo born year of the Tiger).

- Wood symbolizes high morals, self-confidence, cooperation, idealism, and a variety of interests. The season associated with wood signs is Spring and the associated direction is the East.
Fire (Snake & Horse)
- Fire symbolizes leadership, passion, decisiveness, self-confidence, positivity, and assertiveness. The season associated with fire signs is Summer and the associated direction is the South.
Earth (Ox, Dragon, Goat, & Dog)
