ElsaGate (also referred to as Kids’ Content Farms) is a sub-aesthetic of Kidcore that focuses on pop-culture characters on social media, but often places them in violent, sexual, or disgusting situations and environments. It should not be confused with YTP videos which add overly funny and inappropriate scenes and tones to normal videos and occasional children’s movies, as these videos are not intended for children, whereas ElsaGate videos were a phenomenon in which the videos were actually targeted towards kids.

History[]

When ElsaGate originated in the mid-2010s, it primarily consisted of live-action videos featuring costumes of big-name movie characters such as Elsa and Spider-Man. In recent times however, it has evolved and started including popular internet-exclusive characters as well, typically characters from horror series such as Huggy Wuggy from "Poppy Playtime" and Pomni from "The Amazing Digital Circus" on social platforms, mostly YouTube. Many of these videos were found to have millions of views, prompting questions about YouTube's content moderation and filtering systems.

YouTube responded by implementing stricter guidelines for children's content and removing many of the inappropriate videos. They also introduced the YouTube Kids app as a safer alternative for young viewers.

Despite these measures, ElsaGate videos and similar content continue to circulate on the platform, prompting ongoing concerns about child safety and the impact of unsuitable content on young audiences.
