Sexiness or Sensuality denotes the aesthetic quality of eliciting sexual attraction. It is primarily associated with physical appeal, but also encompasses the capacity to evoke sexual arousal or desire. Sexual attractiveness, or sex appeal, is the ability to generate sexual interest in others, influenced by physical and non-physical attributes. These attributes can include aesthetics, movement, voice, and sensory cues such as body odor or pheromones, and may be enhanced by adornments or clothing.

Sexual attraction is subjective, varying based on individual genetic, psychological, and cultural factors, as well as personal preferences and sexual orientation. While attempts exist to quantify sexual attractiveness, its perception remains largely dependent on individual interpretation. Interpersonal attraction, which influences perceptions of sexiness, is also affected by factors such as similarity, familiarity, and reciprocal liking. The ability to generate sexual interest is utilized in various forms of media and occupations, including advertising and modeling. Evolutionary perspectives, such as the ovulatory shift hypothesis, suggest that hormonal fluctuations can influence sexual behavior and presentation, potentially enhancing attractiveness during periods of fertility.

Certain traditions and tropes surrounding sex, such as BDSM, sexualized anime (including hentai and ecchi), and even commonly known preferences/fetishes could be acknowledged by society as being sex-focused, but an individual may not personally find it sexually attractive themselves.

Sexiness, as a result of conservative values across the world, has often been demonized[1], thus leading to the perception that sexy visuals are a temptation, and that people (most especially women) who enjoy it are less moral. Because of this, ideas of forbiddenness, voyeurism, and corruption are frequently found in sexy aesthetics, such as in Femme Fatale. As rebellion to these conservative values, women also embrace their sexualities, purposefully dressing "sleazy" and acting sexually forward, such as in Gyaru.

The pages that are categorized on the wiki as sexy include aesthetics where the community aims to be sexually desirable, which often leads to feminine aesthetics being over-represented, as female fashion aims to look sexy more often than male fashion, which is generally more utilitarian. "Sexy" aesthetics include fashion that emphasizes the body, explicit discussions of sex, and a tradition of sexual connotations associated with the visuals (for example, Maids are often a sexy Halloween costume and trope in hentai/ecchi.) However, connecting to the above paragraphs, some aesthetics that are not associated with these visuals but contain traits others find sexually attractive, such as nurturing femininity in Cottagecore, shyness/intelligence in Nerd, or power in Old Money. Because of how subjective sexiness is, these aesthetics that do not contain traditionally sexy visuals are not going to be tagged sexy.
