Character Tropes are recurring archetypes, clichés, or patterns found in fictional media. They often involve common traits, behaviors, or situations that audiences immediately recognize. These tropes can be used to quickly establish a character's role, personality, or motivations within a story. They can also be subverted or deconstructed to create unexpected plot twists or deeper character development.

Character tropes encompass various aspects, such as visual appearance and clothing that are indicative of their personality and how it fits within a setting. For example, Mad Scientists are associated with "wild" hairstyles and lab coats, while Femmes Fatales are associated with a dark yet seductive style, and Magical Girls are characterized by cuteness, magic, and feminity.

This can also overlap with folklorical creatures, subcultures, and stereotypes. Creatures such as ghosts, vampires, werewolves, are frequently depicted in popular culture.

As a note, pages on this wiki should be based on tropes that also have a set visual expectation or consistent setting with the character. So for example, a "bad boy" from romance is too broad, as that character can be a Mafia member, a Biker, or a werewolf. The bad boy trope is not an aesthetic, but a personality that could be applied to multiple aesthetics.
