Bugcore is an aesthetic inspired by animals that are classified as arthropods. This includes a wide range of animals from sea-dwellers like lobsters, isopods, shrimp, and crabs to land-dwellers like butterflies, spiders, bees, and roaches. It is a sub-category of Invertebratecore, which itself is a sub-category of Animalcore.

Arthropods are some of the most adaptive and diverse forms of lifeforms. Even when two arthropods look similar, they are likely to be designed for different means. Arthropods are some of the oldest forms of life to exist, and and have continuously evolved to keep up with their environment. Some arthropods have a sense of community, and have achieved excellence through combined efforts; though many of them have low intelligence, as a unit they somewhat appear as an orderly well-funtioning machine.

Artropods as a theme represents diversity, endurance, and camraderie. However, through the concept of camraderic hivemind, it also as the flaw of sheep mindedness.

Sub-Aesthetics

Butterfly is a sub-aesthetic of the general aesthetic of Bugcore, relying solely on the visuals of the Butterfly insect.

Honeycore is a sub-aesthetic that relies on the imagery of bees and anything related to them, like beekeepers, bread (in reference to bee bread), and waffles (in reference to honeycomb packaging).

Similar Aesthetics

Bugcore is comparable to Fairycore, in the way that it revolves around small, ambient creatures. However, bugcore is comparitavely more savage, with arthropods utilizing savage jaws and appendages, chemical warfare, and brute statistical achievement relative to their size.

Fashion

The anatomy of most, if not all artropods, are armor-like outsides and soft insides. However, many arthropods are delicate, yet crafty. Bugs are sophisticated, yet elaborate. They walk the line between simple and exaggerated. Most of the time, the general shape will be simple, but it will include many certain qualities akin to nobility.

Bugcore fashion commonly involves:

  • Any and all applications of silk clothings.
  • Braided hair akin to antennae.
  • Long, flowing clothing (capes, dresses, etc) akin to wings.
  • Layered clothing akin to armored exoskeleton.
  • Fur.
  • Soft and comfortable clothing as a inner layer, with a thicker layer on top.
  • Handcrafted clothing with complex patterns and simple colors, or simple patterns with complex colors.
  • Patterns such as stripes, hexagons, spots, or symmetrical patterns.
  • Naturally occurring or faded colours including brown, olive, kambu, or black.
