Apologies for the delay! I know this was long requested, so I know some of y'all are eager to get started on editing Cutecore. Cutegore will still be locked until the cutecore page is developed enough

Done. My bad, things were busy during the holidays
Also sorry for removing your page. People cannot make duplicates of pages because of locking because it's going to mess up with organization and evades the lock, which leads to edit wars we put out
Hi! We locked cutecore because that page was locked in an edit war. Many people tried to do things like remove the history of it being used to avoid "cultural appropriation," remove the connection to cutegore, and regularly blanked the page to protest against gore. Sadly, stuff like this can happen. If you want to discuss separating cutecore and cutegore, please start a discussion on my message board and/or the Discord linked to the side
While Taylor Swift’s music isn’t Twee, she helped popularize Twee fashion because during that era, her Twee outfits became viral. I’ll put her in the history session later. Also, putting in a non-trolling artist isn’t a reason for a ban
It might be that you're trying to edit a locked page. We typically do this for extremely controversial ones that are prone to vandalism, like furry. Which page are you trying to edit?
@Gwenanenn I know you're not saying anything about the speed, but some ppl have poked me in the past about this. So here's my statement for anyone who reads. The rate of creation is fairly slow, but I'm busy with my irl life and I still write quite a lot of words for articles and monitor the site. People who want more moodboards on that page are always welcome to submit moodboards to me in my messages.
Around 200. A decent amount, but I still have quite the long road ahead of me. Most of the major aesthetics are there, especially favoring the big internet aesthetics, seasonal, and fashion aesthetics.
What I need to work on is the more obscure music pages, graphic design aesthetics, and historical eras. Some pages do look to be redundant, so there aren't many pages for the ones that are similar to more well-known pages. (Like Bohemian being prioritized over Wild Child.)
I focus on the aesthetics that are for sure documented, so many smaller/wiki-coined aesthetics kind of fall by the wayside. I'm also trying to keep up with popular internet trends to help the wiki feel more like a current and useful resource. But I do admit, it is easier for me to make moodboards for aesthetics that I personally know would look accurate. There's also a pretty big bias towards aesthetics that both have a pinterest following and an easily searchable name.
I'm not alt, but as a Lolita, I have some tips! The first thing is that if you use your own money, you can buy whatever clothes you want, so you don't have to rely on them to say yes or no. But when you do go on family shopping trips, be sure to get basics from normie stores that fit the aesthetic- I'm fairly certain they would be willing to buy black skinny jeans and such. Then, slowly dress in "toned down alt." stuff like normal band tees with skinny jeans. You could discuss why they don't want you to dress alt. They may be cool with the clothes, but not the piercings, for example, or they want you to dress more normie for certain occasions. Prepare to dispel some misconceptions, too.
Starrflesh, Cult Party Kei, and Morute are big influences on my tumblr and pinterest, and irl, I wear a lot of Dark Academia and 1930s-50s stuff I interpreted through a kawaii lens. I'm also a classic Lolita ^_^ But lately, I've been looking into getting into the cyber fairy grunge and grunge coquette fashion styles
To preface, I am a Lolita of 4 years and have quite a bit of experience in the community.
@TheInternetTombRaider Nah, the Lolita community does have pretty strict guidelines that are like concrete rules. That's because Lolita has a culture where there is an idea of "good" and "bad" Lolita. People write guides, theories of aesthetics (such as color, texture, etc.), and offer constructive criticism to reach towards a creating a fantastical aesthetic that is embodied in you, physically, in reality. I know that this is incredibly strict to some people, but take it or leave it. Lolita doesn't look good unless you have the ability to listen to people more experienced than you, observe good coords, and experiment. You can wear Lolita and not participate in criticism/rules, but then you might not reach the results and community you want.
@Rennyphoenix Sadly, there hasn't really been a scene/gothic lolita coord where it's a black gothic lolita dress + kandi that is considered "good." I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's not typical and when it is done, it's often poorly received. The reason is that neon colors are purposefully jarring, whereas Lolita typically uses color palettes based on similarity with complementary or contrasting colors in similar hues. For example, black and plum or neon pink with bright yellow. Another reason is that the connotations aren't going to match up. Gothic Lolita is largely Victorian-inspired, with more reserved historical details. Kandi will clash with that, and in Lolita, the intention is more oriented towards harmony in color and/or connotation.
There are actually a lot of Lolita coords that utilize Kandi, specifically ones from the "OTT sweet" aesthetic or ones that blend with elements of pop and fairy kei. However, Gothic Lolita does utilize some neon color: ultramarine blue, specifically from Moi Meme Moitie is a good example. The key is that they either evenly disperse the secondary neon color or they use it to emphasize one detail, like a skirt bottom. Bittersweet Lolita also blends black with brighter colors, but the dresses involved would not have that Gothic aesthetic you want. A blend between scene and Lolita also does exist, but typically in coords that are casual. In my private discord server, there's a Lolita who wore a black and red skirt, white blouse, and loose MCR tee over it. Here's another good example of a scene/Lolita coord.
I recommend that you do some research and invest in one Gothic Lolita coordinate where it's just the bare bones: dress, petticoat, blouse (if needed), headdress, socks/tights, and shoes. (you might already have the last two.) That way, you can dip your toes into the community and see if you enjoy wearing the fashion, as well as learn the basics of looking "properly" Lolita. I can also give you links to resources to help you decide on your first coordinate, if you like. As for your comment on being a fully Gothic Lolita, you don't have to! Most Lolitas only wear it occasionally and keep their Lolita stuff separate from everything else. A Lolita coord also enables you to visit a meet-up, where you get to meet other Lolitas in their outfits.
Here is another term you might've come across: ita. It means wearing Lolita in a cringey way. I know you said that cringe culture should be dead, but I find that this article is a good start in understanding the levels of quality a Lolita is supposed to have. The key is that Lolita is glamorous and wearable in every day, so bad quality is avoided.
I know it's a lot, and there's a lotta research to get into the fashion, but we're all quite friendly (if a bit infodumpy and critical). In the meantime, the free movie Kamikaze Girls is a great way to keep up your love for Lolita and understand the culture.
Country maybe?
Ooh, we don't have that page yet. It is closely related to That Girl, but this CARI page is best https://cari.institute/aesthetics/austurbane
Candycore wasn't taken down, it's in the single-subject aesthetics section now. The information on the section is entirely the same as the introduction, as well as the gallery. IMO, it's too redundant to put all the different variety of sweets on there. But I'm a bit biased tbh
This looks so amazing omg I'm excited to see the next ones
Hello! Unfortunately, no, as this wiki should document aesthetics that exist as communities or design philosophies. Additionally, it is fairly rare for created aesthetics to become popular, as it typically takes a long time. For searching better, I recommend using tumblr and searching both tags
To be honest, I do agree with you in that a lot of disclaimers were written in an overly moralistic/exclamatory way that makes the article sound unprofessional and villainizes the people in the community. I'm talking with the other admins to create a new disclaimer that sounds more objective
Bump. Also, feel free to be as bitchy as you want lmao.
I'm not sure about the fairy skirt question, sorry! :( Do you mean a pointed tutu?
For the second question, the color theory page and the other "what components are in aesthetics" articles are under the "what are aesthetics" tab on the top.
Hey there Aesthetics Wiki readers and contributors!
How do you guys feel about the top bar changes and new ways of categorizing and finding aesthetics? It is currently still a work in process that requires a lot of community help, but to make the wiki more democratic and more engaged, here's a space for sharing comments about changes.
Like it? Don't like it? Any ideas on different ways to navigate?
