This time were talkin about the Metro aesthetics from the Frutiger Family!
The first on the list is this Frutiger Metro doggy named Metro. I made him immeadly after i got off my artblock today. Rlly proud of it.
Next up is this Vectorgarden/Vectorflourish butterfly nicknamed Flora. They were made a bit after the original post.

Hey guys i’m from Sweden and i really think that we need a wiki page to preserve Fjortis history. This is a style from Sweden similar to Gyaru and other hot pink girly styles from around the world such as Cagole, Choni, Brohoe etc. The style is characterised by having extreme tans, platinum blonde hair and lots of white eyeshadow. Also to any other swede reading this yes i know fjortis is a slang for fourteen in our language
Im a mcbling girlie, but i personally think there are wayy to many asccociated aesthetics on its page, i mean.. you dont have to put the ENTIRE frutiger family on a page thats mildly asscociated with it.. so do you think the page deserves some clean up, or should it stay the same?
Dark Coquette
Grunge
Mcbling
Goth
Vampire 🧛♂️
Since there seems to be some confusion between these aesthetics(mainly McBling and Bimbocore, I figured I’d break it down.
First of all, the decades/time periods they came out in.
McBling - Came out in the 2000s, roughly relevant between 2004 to 2009 at the latest.
Bubblegum Baddie - Came out in 2019 as part of the 2000s aesthetic revival, often mistakenly referred to as Y2K, also related to the Baddie aesthetic that was popular at the time.
Bimbocore - Came out a bit later, in possibly 2020 or 2021, mistaken for Bubblegum Baddie.
Next, one of the most important parts: Visuals.
McBling’s visual revolve around what is referred to as “1970s excess” and kitschy luxury, hence the name “McBling” descending from the term McMansion.
One common visual motif is animal print, specifically leopard and zebra.
Another one is gemstones, particularly due to the luxurious feminine nature of it.
Bubblegum Baddie’s visuals revolve around things typically considered “childish” but with adult references, pink filters, and luxury visuals are coming, there’s also much more use of textures such as sparkles and bubbles.
Bimbocore’s visuals tend to have a focus on exaggerated femininity combined with plastic surgery, girly 2000s cyber web characters are also common combined with girly memes, and fictional characters edited against a girly backdrop.
Next, fashion and makeup
Bimbocore makeup utilizes a dramatic Barbie-like look in order to fit with the vibe of its exaggerated femininity.
There’s often a use of wispy lashes and lipliner may be used to make lips look bigger.
Bubblegum Baddie makeup is softer with more emphasis on winged eyeliner, more natural lips and rosy cheeks, it’s also referred to as Bratz doll makeup.
Unlike the other two, McBling does not utilize pink in most original interpretations with most looks opting for a dramatic smoky eye and a frosty lip, aligning with makeup trends at the time it was popular.
Bimbocore fashion utilizes a very skimpy, skin-baring look, hence the name Bimbocore, bras and thongs showing are common.
Bubblegum Baddie tends to feature a lot of fur and glitter, with Bratz iconography, also more emphasis on jewelry and children’s characters.
Hoop earrings are also common.
McBling fashion tends to have a bold, trashy feel, with emphasis on shocking pinks, animal prints and black, trucker hats and sunglasses are also common, there is also urban inspiration due to the overlap with the bling movement.
I do not own any of the images, they were all taken from a Pinterest account! Hope this helps.
It’s a mix of aesthetics, though I tried to make it a mix of some girly 2000s aesthetics and Poster Gal. I looked at real photos of phones from the early 2000s. I decided to follow the Smith Protocol - If you can’t find an icon for it—go Smith!
(Ignore how I have two clock apps)
Decided to draw Dixie with her sister who I still don’t have a name for
This is the first multi-character drawing I’ve done in a while, I also made this moodboard of the two aesthetics side by side
I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, it’s my first time making a side by side moodboard like this and I honestly hope to do more
Hello! I am having trouble finding the sub-genre name (or multiple) for this type of Americana and/or an article about it.
My idea of Americana is suntanning beds, fake lips, USA bikinis, McDonalds patriotism, kind of campy, slutty and fake. It’s white picket fences and the American Dream!
This may be my own mix and interpretation of what Americana is but, if it had to be named - what is the closest sub-genre? American pop? New Americana? Camp Americana? 60s?
The closest visual reference I can think of is this:
Not the best but take this crap
Also that's Dixie's sister, she doesn't have a nameee
My parents were impressed by how much detail I put into this, ngl I am too
Here is Dixie, I was originally gonna draw Sharon, my Bimbocore OC but then I realized was looking at a bunch of ugly McBling outfits and so I drew her instead
It doesn’t look as kitschy to me but uhhh yeah
Which one are you?
The trashy rich girl
The rockstar princess
The classy snob
The scene queen
Some disclaimers:
THIS IS MY OPINION. NOT FACT. An aesthetic/subculture/style dying isnt necesarily a bad thing. All aesthetics die eventually, which is okay. And this post is reffering to aesthetics popularity soley in the West.
Coquette/Dollette/Nymphet/Balletcore etc
Just like how the academia aesthetics kinda dyed out after so many subgenres were made for it, I feel like the same will happen to coquette.
McBling/Gyaru/Bubblegum Bitch/Bimbocore
I am a fan of all of them, however I do feel like they peaked in 2022. And although theyre still popular, they have been on a slight decline in popularity and probably will continue to decline in the next year
Frutiger Aero
Kinda being overshadowed by Frutiger Metro rn
Krushclub
This one im the least sure about, musical careers/genres based on tiktok usually dont last the longest, however Krushclub is really "krushing" it in the music scene right now. I feel as if 2024 might be there last big year before they start to decline a bit
Frutiger Metro: Skates, dance music, wishes they lived in the 2010s forever, bright and happy personality, distracted easily
UrBling: Chaotic, involved with crime of sorts, sleazy sense of humor, graffiti, smug, thinks he’s very cool
McBling: Rich and privileged, snooty, sassy, parties too much, spoiled, probably a bit of a toxic person
This is just my opinion and this also kinda alludes to my OCs so that’s why they have certain traits
(Gimme visual examples plz)
I like Bimbocore a lot but it seems to be co opted a lot with McBling/confused for it which makes me wonder if a specific “look” for Bimbocore exists
Made this little analysis thing to try and decipher it but it still confuses me so much
But then McBling also looks like this, which makes it even more confusing
Are the modern adaptations of McBling just Bimbocore?
(None of the images shown are mine)
Here's my girl, Cleo
God, I really need to post art here more often
