Her name is Ember!
Hey guys i’m from Sweden and i really think that we need a wiki page to preserve Fjortis history. This is a style from Sweden similar to Gyaru and other hot pink girly styles from around the world such as Cagole, Choni, Brohoe etc. The style is characterised by having extreme tans, platinum blonde hair and lots of white eyeshadow. Also to any other swede reading this yes i know fjortis is a slang for fourteen in our language
I’m interested in doing a blog about the gyaru bully trope in anime and manga and many things I hate about that trope. So if anyone’s interested in helping me out that would be great, and I also want to see some examples and your thoughts on this trope.
I can draw slightly better than this lol
or like at least a gyaru type similar to this?? would definitely helpp
So, on the Fandom of Pretty Cure Wiki, I have this OriCure (original Pretty Cure season I made called "Ink Rainbow Pretty Cure!", a season that takes place in the Splatoon Timeline. In one of the episodes I plan, Aoi (main character)'s friend (Clara), introduces her to the club she leads at school, called "Otherworldy Fashion Monsters Group", a group of inklings and octolings that rebel against the already rebellious fashion of Splatsville. And the other two main members are Hamako Inoue (known as Gal) who wears Gyaru, and Kotori Shirono (known as Angel), who wears Tenshi Kaiwai/Mizuiro. Clara also wears Lolita, but mainly Sweet/Nautical Lolita! Here are their design concepts (from left to right: Clara, Hamako, Kotori):
What do you think of them? Did I represent the fashion they wear well? Also, I plan that Aoi joins the group too, if so, what fashion should she wear? I was planning doing a kimono-themed character, as well as someone requesting she wears Wa Lolita (a sub-genre of Lolita that has features of Traditional Japanese Clothing), but I also planned a cosplay-themed character, as well as thinking about Decora to keep up the Harajuku fashion theme. Here's what she looks like when she's not a pretty cure btw:
It was kinda difficult considering my school has a v plain uniform, but here’s what I wore:
School uniform
Gyaru eye makeup
White leg warmers
Hair clips
I don’t like the tanning thing bit (it clashes horribly with my hair color, I’m not good enough at makeup for it, cancer risk, etc) so I skipped that.
Here are the comments I remember getting:
“I don’t really like it, can I talk you out of it?” -My mom
“Ambrosia are you okay? You look different” -Annoying classmate who i dislike
“Cute!!!” -Best friend
“How did you do the eye bit?” -random classmate
“It’s so cool!” -Choreography partner
“I’m gonna put a pipebomb in your mailbox” -Random kid in the hallway who was carrying a water bottle the size of a pillow
Overall: 7/10, some people thought it was weird, some thought it was cool. I might try it again, but maybe with a more cutecore twist!
So I made some moodboards based on some aesthetics I’ve been seeing if I can actually find the dang visuals agsgsvsvs
First one is similar to the likes of Frutiger Aero and Gyaru, a unique design style
Second one is a minimalist style seeming to have a broad visual but containing a lot of pink and green
Some disclaimers:
THIS IS MY OPINION. NOT FACT. An aesthetic/subculture/style dying isnt necesarily a bad thing. All aesthetics die eventually, which is okay. And this post is reffering to aesthetics popularity soley in the West.
Coquette/Dollette/Nymphet/Balletcore etc
Just like how the academia aesthetics kinda dyed out after so many subgenres were made for it, I feel like the same will happen to coquette.
McBling/Gyaru/Bubblegum Bitch/Bimbocore
I am a fan of all of them, however I do feel like they peaked in 2022. And although theyre still popular, they have been on a slight decline in popularity and probably will continue to decline in the next year
Frutiger Aero
Kinda being overshadowed by Frutiger Metro rn
Krushclub
This one im the least sure about, musical careers/genres based on tiktok usually dont last the longest, however Krushclub is really "krushing" it in the music scene right now. I feel as if 2024 might be there last big year before they start to decline a bit
I reading something about gyaru and then I saw that they were often portrayed as mean girls/bullies and I want to find out where this trope usually happens. Yansim is one but I need some more examples.
