Since there seems to be some confusion between these aesthetics(mainly McBling and Bimbocore, I figured I’d break it down.
First of all, the decades/time periods they came out in.
McBling - Came out in the 2000s, roughly relevant between 2004 to 2009 at the latest.
Bubblegum Baddie - Came out in 2019 as part of the 2000s aesthetic revival, often mistakenly referred to as Y2K, also related to the Baddie aesthetic that was popular at the time.
Bimbocore - Came out a bit later, in possibly 2020 or 2021, mistaken for Bubblegum Baddie.
Next, one of the most important parts: Visuals.
McBling’s visual revolve around what is referred to as “1970s excess” and kitschy luxury, hence the name “McBling” descending from the term McMansion.
One common visual motif is animal print, specifically leopard and zebra.
Another one is gemstones, particularly due to the luxurious feminine nature of it.
Bubblegum Baddie’s visuals revolve around things typically considered “childish” but with adult references, pink filters, and luxury visuals are coming, there’s also much more use of textures such as sparkles and bubbles.
Bimbocore’s visuals tend to have a focus on exaggerated femininity combined with plastic surgery, girly 2000s cyber web characters are also common combined with girly memes, and fictional characters edited against a girly backdrop.
Next, fashion and makeup
Bimbocore makeup utilizes a dramatic Barbie-like look in order to fit with the vibe of its exaggerated femininity.
There’s often a use of wispy lashes and lipliner may be used to make lips look bigger.
Bubblegum Baddie makeup is softer with more emphasis on winged eyeliner, more natural lips and rosy cheeks, it’s also referred to as Bratz doll makeup.
Unlike the other two, McBling does not utilize pink in most original interpretations with most looks opting for a dramatic smoky eye and a frosty lip, aligning with makeup trends at the time it was popular.
Bimbocore fashion utilizes a very skimpy, skin-baring look, hence the name Bimbocore, bras and thongs showing are common.
Bubblegum Baddie tends to feature a lot of fur and glitter, with Bratz iconography, also more emphasis on jewelry and children’s characters.
Hoop earrings are also common.
McBling fashion tends to have a bold, trashy feel, with emphasis on shocking pinks, animal prints and black, trucker hats and sunglasses are also common, there is also urban inspiration due to the overlap with the bling movement.
I do not own any of the images, they were all taken from a Pinterest account! Hope this helps.
(Gimme visual examples plz)
I like Bimbocore a lot but it seems to be co opted a lot with McBling/confused for it which makes me wonder if a specific “look” for Bimbocore exists
Made this little analysis thing to try and decipher it but it still confuses me so much
But then McBling also looks like this, which makes it even more confusing
Are the modern adaptations of McBling just Bimbocore?
(None of the images shown are mine)
To this day I don't know what the difference is between Mcbling, Bubblegum b*tch and bimbocore
A friend told me something that inspired this
Also I'm sick, so I'm not as active
Ever since I learnt about aesthetics, I always thought I was a Bubblegum Bitch girlie, but then I learnt about Barbiecore and Bimbocore and UNICORNCORE.ARE YOU KIDDING ME???NOW I DON’T KNOW WHICH ONE I AM TRULY.SHOULD I CREATE MY OWN AESTHETIC MADE UP OF THESE 4 SEPERATE AESTHETICS??
Bimbocore
Sparklepunk(a personal aesthetic made by someone on the server
(please don't give any that is too feminine like the tags listed or nothing to nature related)
Here is my bimbo character, Sharon
I named her Sharon after KLR Productions used the name, and since I feel bimbocore is kind of scandalous that's she's "The one they call" Sharon.
