There is no such thing as a transitioning aesthetic. Indie is one thing, indie kid is another. The problem is, most people tend to scrap the "kid" addition, making it incredibly confusing.

Indie kid definitely began from Indie, yes. But it has evolved, and they are now quite different. Indie is more related to grunge; with a specific philosophy relating to the means of urban life and consciousness. Indie kid also has some of those aspects, but is more focused on the romantic aspects of urban life; shown through saturation and other "kid like" auras. They are related, but they have differences.
