I'm a long time aesthetic wiki fandom dweller since late 2019, keep looking at new aesthetics, most of the users or anythings that emerged everyday as part of my research and entertainment. You won't find me on wiki though since I have never post a single thing on this site until now, you don't need to post to visit the wikia after all.
After I read some post, some old and recent comments and news about the overthrow of the creator(I know what she did, we won't talk about it), it just made me looked back and realized that it had become quite rigid and more serious. At first I just want to keep my mouth shut but, after a long observation and finally someone decide to speak out by posting about the change, I think I need to do it.
For a long time I have seen many aesthetics emerged from tumblr and pinterest, and hey, that looks legit awesome. But it never happened on the wikia. Be it because of busy schedule or anything. The mods seems to be more serious and scary, most of the aesthetics things that might work, might not work from their eyes and just delete like that. No explanation beforehand(this happened to few months ago).
I think we allowed the page to be contribute for a long time first then you can decided whether or not the page should be allowed, explain it first, not just delete like that. If there's a page that is really inappropriate like discrimation or racism then it is an exception. I know you might explain why on somewhere like discord or reddit, but what about people who do not have them? Is it a responsibility for people who join the wikia, to also join discord and reddit too?
The way the mods responding are quite weird. For a simple like yes or no question, they sure do take a time to write the entire page long essay. They try to be professional as much as possible but they also come off as, rigid, serious and perfectionist that make sure the other who will respond next will be left speechless and making no point in discussing futher, some of them seem to be obsessed with repeating words, like abrasive, hope this help, check out FAQ, delete this page, responsive, found some, these.(this might be off topic, left this out if you like)
I also noticed some behavior recently, mostly some newcomer or old time user, they have expressed their anxiety to post. Why? For asking, be it an aesthetic related or not. For the place where you can relax and find yourself, why do they felt so anxious? Surely some of them is a long time wikia user, they just never post on aesthetic wikia. So it's very strange to see one. I also noticed that in reddit, you need to be a trust member to post on this sub too, what if someone just want to come here and find aesthetics, you need to join and become a trustworthy person enough, to post a simple single text to find an aesthetics?
I don't know what right words to use, I would say scary? Too rigid? Aesthetic wiki is where you supposed to find your aesthetics so you could felt like you can be related to something, to make you felt relaxing and calming. Not to felt intimidated or anxious or scared to even ask simple question like what is my aesthetics?
